You can make your own crayons right at home !!
Popsicle Crayons
YOU WILL NEED:
Eight 1x1 inch cubes of uncolored parrafin wax
Cheese grater
Tin can
Saucepan
Water
1.5 Tbsp Powdered Tempera Paint
2 Popsicle Sticks
Paper Cup
HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Grate the parrafin wax using the smallest hole on the grater ( until you have 1/2 cup packed shavings )
2. Put the wax in a tin can, then place the can in the saucepan filled with 1-2 inches of water
3. Simmer the water on med-low until the wax melts
4. Stir the powdered paint into the wax with a popsicle stick
5. Simmer on low for about 5 minutes - stirring frequently
6. Remove saucepan from heat , then remove can from saucepan
7. Pour the mixture into a paper cup
8. When the mixture begins to harden on top, stir it vigorously
9. Wait 3-4 minutes, then place a clean popsicle stick upright in the middle of the mixture ( if the stick won't stay upright wait 1 minute and try again )
10. Put the mixture in the fridge to harden for about 30 minutes
11. Peel off the paper cup and voila you have a popsicle crayon !!
