Use this great concoction to make pinatas and other fun crafts - a big mess but lots of fun !

Papier Mache

YOU WILL NEED:

1 Cup Water
1 Cup Flour
Newspapers
Balloon ( or plastic bowl or plate )
Petroleum Jelly or cooking spray

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1. Mix together water & flour - stir until lumps are no longer there. Cut newspaper into strips ( aprox 1.5" wide and 7-8" long )
2. Dip the strips into the paste - remove excess by running your fingers along the strips.
3. Lightly coat a blown up  balloon ( or other molded shape ) with petroleum jelly or cooking spray. Layer the newspaper strips over the mold ( make sure to overlap and crisscross for strength )
4. Smooth out the wrinkles. Trip any excess hanging down
5. Add a second / third layer of paper strips.  Let you project dry overnight. ( Put on some more layers the next day depending on how strong you need your project to be )
6. When the papier mache has hardened , pop the balloon and discard it
7. Paint and decorate your artwork !

SIDE NOTES

Have fun ! This paste will keep in the fridge for about a week
