Fabric Crayons
YOU WILL NEED:
6 similar colored crayons
Tin Can
Saucepan
Water
Paper Cup
1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
Popsicle stick
Wax paper
HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Remove the labels from the crayons ( to do this the easy way soak them in hot water for about 10 minutes )
2. Put the crayons in a tin can , then place the can in a saucepan filled with 1-2 inches of water
3. Simmer the water on med-low until the crayons melt
4. Remove from heat , then remove can from saucepan
5. Pour the melted crayons into a paper cup
6. Mix the vegetable oil into the melted crayons with a popsicle stick
7. Stir the mixture every couple of minutes for 10-15 minutes until it is like putty
8. Use the popsicle stick to scoop the mixture out of the cup and onto a sheet of wax paper. Let it cool for ten minutes
9. Form the putty mixture into a log, then roll a new sheet of wax paper around it
10. Let it harden in the fridge for about 1 hour
SIDE NOTES
When decorating a t-shirt, place a sheet of wax paper inside it to prevent the melted crayons form soaking through to the back. If you want to make your design permanent, gently lay an old dishtowel over your design. Iron the design on the lowest setting for about 1 minute. To set the design, run your item and a cup of white vinegar through a cold water cycle in the washing machine ( without detergent )
