BOB THE BUILDER / CONSTRUCTION BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS
Bob The Builder/Construction Printables
Bob The Builder Decorations
Bob the Builder is all about building so make sure you have lots of blocks around. You could create some building blocks out of cardboard boxes ( paint them to look like big bricks if you like - shoeboxes are a great size for bricks ), also have lots of lego around ( build some structures before the party that the kids can tear down and rebuild ). Use lots of yellow streamers ( or you could use yellow caution tape ) & balloons, hang some plastic tools from the ceiling, use plastic construction hats for each place setting. Have a sand box filled with lots of toys for digging. Get some orange construction fencing and block off a play area - or fence your unfenced yard . Get some orange cones & flashing lights to create a 'safe' construction area. Use clean/unused paint cans to hold your snack foods. Also, hang up some pictures of Bob & his friends ( you can print some out on our site ). You could also print out and enlarge some pictures of tools and hang them around the party area. Don't forget to decorate the party hosts - wear a construction hat & overalls - you could even carry a clipboard ( try to look like the boss - you are the foreman of the party ! )
To learn about Bob the Builder and his crew I found this great site with a description and picture of each character - check it out !
Bob The Builder Cakes & Food
- Use paint cans to hold foods like chips etc ( you can buy clean / unused ones at craft stores )
- Serve all foods to the kids in lunchboxes or brown paper bags - after all - they're on the job !
- Dizzy's Cement: Make vanilla shakes and add a few drops of black food coloring to make it a grayish color. Then tell the kids they are drinking cement!
- Jell-O Construction hats - Take a new construction hat, pour in Jell-O and fruit and let it set.
Bob The Builder Graphics & Clipart
Bob The Builder Crafts
- Painting - painting is always a lot of fun for toddler parties but why not make it even more fun by letting the kids paint a big house ? ( You can build a house out of large cardboard boxes and then let the kids paint it how they like - it will be a mess - but they will love it )
Bob The Builder Party Favors
Bob The Builder Invitations

Bob The Builder Games & Fun Stuff
Relay races are always a big hit and go well as long as they are well planned out before the party. You can have kids team up for relays or you could have them go one on one. For a Bob the Builder relay race you could include activities such as : riding a toy dump truck along an obstacle course ( set up some orange cones/pylons for them to go around ), hammering in a nail ( plastic toys are best - you can find them at dollar stores ), finding a special item in the sand by digging, climbing a ladder etc. ) The first team or child to complete the race will win a prize.
- Can We Build It ? Yes We Can !
Get out a bunch of building blocks ( or make your own out of boxes ) and let the kids build ! You can take pictures of them creating ( and probably demolishing too )
Play this just lick hot potato but using a wrench instead ( you will want to use a plastic one so that the kids don't get hurt )
- Bob The Builder Friendship Frame
Have your little guests create a Bob The Builder friendship frame or album. Include fun photos from the party taken with a Polariod that they can take home later, or have them create one friendship album for the birthday boy or girl.
Before the party hide a variety of tools around your home or yard ( using plastic toy versions of the real thing would be best ). Give each child a tool box and a list of items they must find - use pictures for younger children - ( for example : hammer, nails, saw, drill, nut, hard hat, tape measure etc. ) The first child ( or team of children ) to find all the tools on the list can win a prize, or you can do it that all of the children win a prize by finding all of the items ( the prize can be the toolbox with the toy tools ).
Divide the kids into two teams and have them select one team member to dress. Give each team a T-shirt, a flannel shirt, jeans, socks, work gloves, goggles, tool belt and tools. The first team to dress the person wins the game! Another variation of this game is to have each team take a roll of caution tape and wrap it around one kid until he's completely covered. First team to finish wins.
Just like Pin the tail on the Donkey. Get a poster of Bob the Builder and create a cardboard hammer - while blindfolded they have to try to put the hammer in Bobs hand. Closest to the mark wins.
Divide your group into two equal teams. Give each team a bucket, bowl, or dump truck. Then give each person of every team a spoon and a pile of sand. Have each team sit around the bucket, and when you say "go" each team has to try and fill their bucket with sand using only their spoons. The team to fill their bucket first wins.
