BARBIE BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS
Barbie Printables
Barbie Invitations
You can either print out some free invitations online , make your own on a computer , or you can make some with card stock. If you are making your own invitations, use some glitter glue to glam it up a bit , and for that extra special touch why not tie a glam lipstick or nail polish to each invite with a pretty ribbon.
Barbie Decorations
A Barbie party is all about girls - so you will need lots of pink & purple streamers & balloons. Grab some feather boas from the dollar store & hang them here and there. A disco ball and lots of mirrors around would be fun. You can purchase matching Barbie plates ,cups , napkins etc or you can just use some pretty pink & purple ones. Add some sequins underneath a clear plastic tablecloth to glam up your table ( for a cute centerpiece you could use some helium balloons weighted down with a cute purse )
Hang up a bunch of Barbie Pictures ( coloring pages are available here for you to use )
Why not have someone come to your party dressed as Barbie ? You can rent or buy a costume , even if you know a teenager who would do it - the kids will love it. Take pictures of each child with Barbie - you could even have the kids dress up like Barbie too !
If you are having a Barbie Princess party you can check out our Disney Princess section for some great ideas on decorating & more!

Barbie Crafts
Select one craft that best suits your child's interest and age group.
Make Your Own Lip Gloss
2 Tbsp vegetable shortening (like Crisco)
1 Tbsp pre-sweetened Kool-Aid mix, any flavor
Mix together in microwave safe bowl and heat on HIGH 15 seconds at a time, until melted. Pour into small containers and refrigerate 45 minutes. (You can get those clear round plastic containers with screwtop lids at Michaels. I think they each hold about 2 ounces, and they are usually near the paint section.) Caution: This is for glossy lips only. This will not provide any protection from the sun at all.
Body Glitter
1 cup aloe vera gel
Fine polyester glitter (any color, available at most craft stores)
One small cosmetic travel container for each girl~the kind you would
put hand cream in with a screw top.
Instructions: Fill the containers 1/4 full with aloe gel.
Pour a small amount of glitter in the container. Provide wood craft sticks or plastic coffee stir straws to the girls for mixing. Add more gel until the mix is complete. Close the lid. Decorate sticker labels with gel pens and attach to each container.
Jewelry Making
Have the kids make their own jewelry - necklaces , rings , bracelets or whatever - lots of great craft supplies for this can be found at your local dollar store.

Makeovers
Of course a Barbie party would never be complete without a total makeover for each girl. This is a great way to start out the party - have a bunch of makeup set up with a few large mirrors ( having a teen helper with this one is a good idea ) , also provide some fancy hats , feather boas , stick on nails etc. The kids will have a great time and this is an awesome time for you to take some photos ( these photos are a great idea to send along with your thank-you cards )
Barbie Shoe Game
Play like Hot Potato - Before the party go to a thrift store and purchase a really funky shoe - then take it home and decorate it with some glitter/feathers etc.
To play: This game is just like hot potatoe - pass the shoe around a circle while music is playing ( hip-hop is best ) , with your back turned stop the music frequently - whoever gets caught with the Shoe is out , keep going until the last person is left - then they get a prize.
Glamour Photos
Provide the kids with lots of dress-up clothes. Have an area set up to take "glamorous pictures" and take pictures with a digital camera. A nice gesture is to include each little guest's photo in the "Thank You" note sent after the party.
Cool Moves Dance Freeze
Play fun music and let the kids dance. When the music stops they all have to freeze. Video tape the dance and let them watch it while they are eating their treats.
Musical Nailpolish
Play music and pass nailpolish around a circle - with your back turned shut the music off frequently - everytime the music stops the person with the nailpolish has to paint one of their toes - the winner is the person who gets all ten toes painted !
Karaoke
If you don't have a karaoke machine you can possibly borrow one from a friend - the kids will have a blast belting out their favorite tunes and if you have a video camera you can send a video home with each child of their performances
High Heel Race
Give the kids some of your old high heels and have them do a race - just be careful - we don't want any broken ankles !
Fashion Show
Give each of the girls a makeover ( having a teenager or two to help out is a great idea ) Make sure you have lots of sparkly eyeshadow , lipstick , blush , nail polish etc. Also provide a bunch of fancy dress-up clothes for the kids to wear ( feather boas , hats , princess gowns & skirts, hair barettes, crowns etc. - Check out your local thrift store for some cheap treasures ) Once each girl is dressed up take lots of pictures of them ( you could even have them try to dress their Barbies like themselves ! ) Have them walk down the catwalk & strut their stuff !
Hot Barbie
Play this like Hot Potatoe but use a Barbie !

I am very detail oriented and when I have a party - even for a child - I always plan every last detail. Here is my complete party plan for a four hour Barbie Party ( be advised with kids of course the times of games etc. may be longer and/or shorter - so I usually make sure I have at least two extra activities set aside just in case ):

Barbie Party Favors
Children always look forward to getting a little goody bag at the end of a party. The possiblities are endless and it really depends on your budget. Check out your local dollar store for some cute items. I would suggest things like nail polish , lip gloss , coloring books & crayons etc. Put them into a cute Barbie themed gift bag or you can make your own. You can also print one for free here
Here are a few things you can add to the goody bag:
